Thanks for the thoughts guys but I was meaning doing the entire thing
myself. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about here is a little
comparison between units:
HI-IQ - 2 fets for discharge, 2 fets for charge
HI-IQsr - 3 fets for discharge, 2 fets for charge, newer software that
enabled more features
SuperIQ - 4 fets fordischarge, 2 fets for charge, added thermal
sensor, added second current sense wire for the higher currents, added
capacitor to allow for scripting, added several components to support
the above features, and added a faster updating clock to refresh the
display faster, and again they added software with more features
Super2IQ only a software upgrade
I've done all of the hardware and software modifications to make my
original HI-IQ into a Super2IQ
When Victor does the upgrade they use your original board and just cut
some traces and add a bunch of parts and drop in fancier software
As well the software is quite easy to mess with, changing the power on
message or adding the password feature is very easy if you have an
eprom reader/writer, changing any of the values is possible of course,
though not recommended.
All of the above information has been gathered by myself over the past
few years, I've used the HI-IQ since its first days-the days when if
you phoned Victor you almost always got to talk to Vic.
I've also repaired many of them so its given me a chance to look
inside many of them to see what Victors done-them rubbing the # of the
chips doesn't make much difference, they are still pretty easy to
So basically I was wondering if anyone else had done the entire
upgrade, or parts of it. Victor seems to have tried it a couple
different ways, I'm wondered if we could decide on which is the best
